Natalie McCauley is director of Russian studies at the University of Richmond, where she's been since completing a Ph.D. with the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor in 2018. At Richmond, she teaches courses on intermediate and advanced Russian language, 19th and 20th-century Russian literature, and Russian and East European film. Her primary research interests include 20th-century Russian literature, gender and sexuality studies, and contemporary Russian film and television. Her current research project focuses on the role of gender and sexuality in Russian screen media and how the two often intersect to further patriarchal and imperialistic views within Russia's current national narrative.
