    Hilary Raymond has taught French for 30 years, with the majority of those years spent at the University of Richmond. In addition to her teaching responsibilities, she has served as a summer study abroad director, a curriculum writer, and a consultant to world languages departments. Her areas of interest include the development of proficiency-based language programs, the creation of community-based learning initiatives, and the use of film in language study. She began her career teaching high school French in Henrico County Public Schools and has taught French language courses at Virginia Commonwealth University and French language and teaching methodology courses at Randolph-Macon College. Raymond’s doctorate is in second language education with a focus on teacher education and early language learning from The Ohio State University. She completed a B.A. in French and art history at Duke University and her M.A.T. in French at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
