Dr. Daria Bozzato

Profile
Daria Bozzato joined the University of Richmond after teaching Italian language, cinema, and cultural studies courses at Bryn Mawr, Gettysburg, and Kenyon Colleges. She trained in Portuguese Studies at La Sapienza University of Rome and Italian Studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she earned her Ph.D. in Romance Studies. Her dissertation examined the influence of theosophy, spiritualism, and the occult on the Futurist oeuvre. She specializes in Cultural Studies, Translation Studies, and Second Language Acquisition, and is currently exploring the intersection of photography, film, and science in portraying individuals with mental illnesses. Dr. Bozzato is also the lead author of Voci, a two-volume elementary Italian open educational resource designed to support diverse student backgrounds and to present an authentic view of modern Italy, focusing on topics such as family, professions, gender, and race.
