Dr. Caitlin Giustiniano is a Visiting Assistant Professor of Russian Studies at the University of Richmond. She received her PhD from the University of Southern California in Los Angeles in 2024. At Richmond she teaches Intermediate Russian, Soviet content courses, and 19th Century Russian Literature. Her research interests include 20th Century Russian and Soviet literature, nonsense literature, children’s literature, and absurdism. Her current research project seeks to illuminate the place, purpose, and techniques of nonsense literature, or “bessmyslitsa,” and its connections with children’s literature, in the Russian literary tradition.
